The only women’s division match at AEW WrestleDream 2023 was the TBS Title Match and no title change was noticed in it. Kris Statlander has continued her reign as the TBS Champion, defeating the future star Julia Hart in an entertaining bout.
Hart made his entrance at AEW WrestleDream 2023 with Brodi King by her side while the champion made her way down to the ring to a big pop from the crowd present in Seattle. Statlander gained the early advantage in the bout, using raw power. But the presence of King at ringside turned the tides in favor of Hart.
The 21-year-old wrestler continued to attack the mid-section of the champion by locking in an abdominal stretch. The champ found her way back with a powerslam. Statlander then hit a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near-fall. Hart attempted with a mist but the wise champion ducked it. Hart landed a moonsault but Statlander managed to get her leg on the rope. Eventually, Statlander reversed a submission hold and hit two piledrivers to secure the win at AEW WrestleDream 2023.

Back at AEW Double or Nothing PPV, Jade Cargill had successfully retained the AEW TBS Championship against Taya Valkyrie, taking her record to 60-0. After the match, Mark Sterling stated that there was “nobody” left to challenge Cargill but that’s when Kris Statlander made her way down to the ring and challenged Cargill in an impromptu matchup to win the title for the first time.

AEW WrestleDream 2023: Kris Statlander proves her dominance
With her win at AEW WrestleDream 2023, Statlander has now been the champion for over 120 days and she’s been a fighting champion. She had been out of action since August 2022 due to a torn ACL and torn meniscus. Her last match on AEW TV before her 2023 return was on the July 15, 2022, episode of AEW Ramage where she teamed with ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and defeated The Renegade Twins.
Since coming back, Statlander elevated her status to the next level by picking up two straight victories against the previously undefeated Jade Cargill who has now arrived at WWE. Meanwhile, Statlander continued to increase her shares following her title retention at AEW WrestleDream 2023.
