Last night’s SmackDown witnessed a flurry of returns that should make Friday’s show even more impactful, moving forward. The biggest of the comebacks happened in the form of a former WWE Champion, Sheamus who showed up in a backstage vignette. It was the first time in more than six months that we have seen him on TV.
At one point, rumors started flying that his career is in jeopardy due to a neck concussion.
But thankfully that’s not the truth as a new vignette for the return of The Celtic Warrior aired during last night’s episode. WrestlingINC.com noted that Sheamus was backstage for last Sunday’s Survivor Series pay-per-view, and for SmackDown at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, too.
The Irishman took shots at the entire SmackDown locker room members that included the WWE Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, Shorty G, and King Baron Corbin.
Sheamus went on a rant on the roster being weak where no one is hungry or has a backbone.
He mentioned the SmackDown roster to be ‘soft’ right now, which is why this is the perfect time for him to return and destroy everyone in his path.
Sheamus ended the promo by saying that he will soon take over the blue brand. This is an indication that the five-time world champion will return as a villain on TV and perhaps move forward to pursue a singles career. Hopefully, he will have no bad effect from the rumored spinal stenosis condition.
Another former champion who overcame an injury to return on SmackDown was Alexa Bliss. She saved Nikki Cross from a beatdown by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, right after Nikki’s singles win over Sonya.
Bliss was action with a reported shoulder injury since the October 6th WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, where she dropped the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles alongside Cross to Asuka and Kairi Sane.
As of now, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are scheduled to face Rose and Deville, Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch for the women’s tag titles at WWE Starrcade, tomorrow.
Elias was also included on SmackDown, last night who was out of from action with an ankle injury.
He was expected to be back around late October or early November. But it seems the return was postponed.
There’s no update on who could be his next opponent upon this return.
