Asuka is the current holder of the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Kairi Sane. These two have turned heel a few weeks ago which worked wonderfully for both of them.
They have been gaining momentums ever since then as the reigning champions. WWE has also portrayed them as bonafide heel characters that have been a good tactic to raise the prestige of the tag team championships.
Despite their decent status on Monday Night Raw, the future may not be bright for Asuka and Kairi Sane, as of now.
There will be several WWE contracts expiring in the next few months and it will be interesting to see is some of the superstars will actually decide to leave with the biggest pro-wrestling banner.
Rumors have that both Asuka and Kairi Sane fall in this category.
Wrestling Observer noted that Kairi Sane’s contract with WWE expires early next year. She has reportedly shown interest in exploring other options.
The first-ever Mae Young Classic winner has her roots in Japan which might be the biggest reason that she wants to leave the United States of America. Maybe, the New Japan pro-wrestling could be the next address for her.
That won’t be the same case for Asuka though as noted by Dave Meltzer on Observer Radio.
He mentioned that unlike Sane, her current tag team partner is happy with her position with WWE. She is also happy to stay in the USA. So Asuka might just go on to extend her contract with the company,
“I’ve heard no rumblings whatsoever of Asuka leaving,” Meltzer said. “I’m under the impression she’s very happy in this country.”
Despite what the future holds for Asuka and Kairi Sane, WWE has ensured that these two get a strong title run. They are being speculated to feature in the first-ever TLC tag team match from the women’s division, next month.
The Target Center in Minneapolis that is the host venue of TLC is currently advertising Becky Lynch and Charlotte challenging the champions in a tag match that is going to be monumental by all means.
