Beth Phoenix is considered to be one of the more dominant female wrestlers during the Divas era in the WWE. This was the time when the women superstars were less allowed to showcase their wrestling skills. But she turned out to be one of the handfuls of names who managed to impress the fans and critics and thereby became a 3-time WWE Women’s Champion and a Divas Champion.
After spending multiple years in the company and then getting involved in multiple memorable moments Beth Phoenix opted to walk away from full-time WWE completion in the year 2012. Beth Phoenix recently appeared as a guest on Brandi Rhodes’ ‘2 Lies And 1 Truth’ podcast where she was asked about whether or not she plans on returning to action in WWE, again. The veteran made an interesting comment by saying that retirement in professional wrestling may not really exist and hence, she’s not closing the door on a possible return,
“Who knows these days? [Beth laughed when asked if she’ll be back in a wrestling ring] You know, I say this every single time, it’s the most cliché thing but never say never or like, retirement in wrestling isn’t a thing, right? It’s embarrassing to say I’m retired because it’s never true.”
Beth Phoenix returned to competition in WWE after retirement
In reality, Beth Phoenix gave notice to WWE in September 2012 that she was ready to leave the company since she wanted to focus on her family. Then in September 2019, she revealed that she was never happy with the condition of the women in WWE before the Divas division was converted into the Women’s division in 2015. It was in that same year that she performed at Wrestlemania 35 for a failed attempt at gaining the WWE Women’s tag team championships alongside Natalya.
Afterward, Beth Phoenix briefly returned to in-ring action as part of a Mixed Tag Team feud alongside her husband WWE Hall of Famer Edge against The Miz and Maryse at Royal Rumble 2022. In recent times, she has been involved in Edge’s storyline against The Judgment Day and the belief is that Rhea Ripley could be her next opponent in a singles match.
