Some of the major names from the WWE roster were released in early 2021 and Bray Wyatt appeared to be one of them. Due to the COVID-19-related budget cuts, WWE was going through some major cost-cutting processes starting in mid-2020. Some mid-card and unutilized talents were let go from time to time which was expected.
But a top attraction on WWE TV like Bray Wyatt’s departure was a major shocker for the fans. His lucrative contract with the WWE was the main reported reason behind the release. He was making in excess of $4 million a year prior to his departure last July, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.

On the latest episode of the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast, Meltzer came up with an update to his previous report stating that Bray Wyatt had set “a very high asking price” to return to WWE or join AEW.
“His price is really high,” Meltzer noted. “I know a couple of companies that wanted to get him, but the price he was asking was really just too high.”
AEW could target Bray Wyatt as a top talent
The veteran journalist noted that the superstar having the real-name Windham Rotunda was making over $4 million a year with WWE and it’s only AEW who could afford to sign him to a contract unless WWE decides to bring back the former WWE Champion. Meltzer added that Bray Wyatt doesn’t “fit perfectly” in AEW or in NJPW, either.
There’s no update on what the former leader of the Wyatt Family is up to these days in regards to his wrestling career. Recently, he changed his Twitter name to a red circle, while he also kept a sketch of a one-eyed creature in his DP.
The Wyatt Family also reunited over the weekend at a fan convention in Liverpool, England where Bray Wyatt was spotted hanging out with WWE Hall of Famer Madusa.

Plus, WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda recently provided an update on when his two sons, Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas, who are apparently willing to return to the squared circle.
“They’re definitely not maybe done,” Rotunda said on Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw. “I don’t know, they’re kind of got their foot in and going with a couple different things, trying to see what’s available. So, you know, maybe you’ll see them back. Maybe you won’t, I don’t know yet, but I don’t want to speak for them either because I know they’re trying to reach out and get some different things going.”
