Despite a not-so-good start in the WWE, Brie and Nikki Bella went on to become cornerstone figures in the company’s history. They have played a major role in the so-called evolution of women’s wrestling that started seven years ago. The latter is a former two-time Divas Champion while her twin sister Brie had the opportunity to win the championship, once.

But Brie and Nikki Bella – The Bella Twins will better be known as pioneers who wanted to elevate the women’s division as a whole so that the gap between male and female Superstar in the WWE could be shortened. Over the years, the two sisters have been part of many historic moments on WWE programming. But that wasn’t the case in the initial days.

Brie and Nikki Bella sent a warning to WWE Officials

Speaking on his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, Prinze Jr. recalled how Brie Bella once got in touch with the Head of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis about The Bella Twins’ status on WWE TV. She and Nikki Bella were apparently ready to leave if their situation did not change,

“He [WWE producer Michael Hayes] was the one that ran into the room when we were about to lose them. Because Brie Bella called John Laurinaitis and was like, ‘Look, our contracts are up. Put us on TV or we’re gone.’ John Laurinaitis calls Freebird [Hayes] and is like, ‘You gotta find a way to get the twins on television right now.’ Freebird runs in the writers’ room, he’s like, ‘We got twins! We gotta get them on TV!’”

Brie and Nikki Bella signed with WWE in 2007 and debuted on the main roster as The Bella Twins in late 2008. They initially struggled to receive regular television time since WWE didn’t have much to offer for their female talents during the Ruthless Aggression Era. But they eventually go on to enjoy a Hall of Fame-worthy run.

For those who don’t know, Brie and Nikki Bella’s mother Kathy has been married to former WWE head honcho, John Laurinaitis since 2016. The duo left WWE in 2012 after being skeptical about their career before re-signing with the company in 2013.
