Carmella has definitely shocked the world at the post-Wrestlemania episode of Smackdown Live.
Just two nights prior to that show, Charlotte Flair conquered the undefeated streak of Asuka at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. When everyone thought that the Queen will have a dominant run with her title, she was dethroned, right away from the limelight.
The IIconics arrival on Smackdown was a major reason behind this. These two delivered a massive ambush on the then-champion to lay her down Carmella was lurking around with her Money in the Bank briefcase to cash it in, at the right time.
So, after waiting for 287 days, she did it in the rightmost way to become the new women’s Champion on Smackdown Live.
Now, we need to consider that Charlotte Flair does owe a contractually obligated rematch in-store for her. This was invoked by her in this week.
Going forward, we have seen an official contract signing on Smackdown Live. Now, we need to note that only Charlotte has signed it on TV but Carmella never did.
However, later, at a backstage segment, Renee young reminded her of the same. So, the princess of Staten Island penned the contract.
Following this, the match between Carmella and Charlotte Flair was made official for Backlash on WWE.com,
“At WWE Backlash, The Queen will be looking to take back her throne when she goes one-on-one with SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella. Who will emerge victorious at WWE Backlash, streaming live Sunday, May 6, at 8 ET/5 PT on the award-winning WWE Network?”
As of now, Carmella’s title run has failed to a great extent. She is not as much as a technical competitor like the other ladies present in the Smackdown locker room. The only reason that she was made the champion so that the Money in the Bank contract does not get wasted.
Going forward, she was unable to garner the needed attention towards her title reign.
The audience reaction has been a zero for the ‘moonwalking, trash-talking’ lady. So, we should not be surprised if Charlotte recaptures her title at the upcoming Backlash PPV event.
There’s no way that The Queen will not want to regain her lost throne on the blue brand of the company.
Well, we will find out whether Carmella gets success in capturing her sixth women’s title, in combined at Backlash.
