Carmella has been given a wild card to enter the title picture as the challenger’s position became suddenly vacant on SmackDown. After Bayley went down with a torn ACL, WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair was didn’t have an opponent for the 2021 Money in the Bank PPV. So, she was handed an opponent, right away by WWE Official Sonya Deville.
She decided to move Bianca Belair’s title defense to SmackDown against Carmella instead of Money In The Bank. Near the end of that match which went down on the July 16 episode amid fans in attendance, Belair whipped the challenger with her hair to get some unprecedented advantage. She then hit the Kiss of Death finisher in the middle of the ring to secure the pinfall victory.

After the match, Carmella mentioned that six days weren’t enough to get ready for a title match. So, she claimed that the title feud was yet to be over. She then accused Belair to cheat her way into a victory. She also claimed another title rematch while showing off her stunning in-ring gear to her fanbase. It appears that her pledge was listened to, after all.

Bianca Belair granted a rematch to Carmella
Over on Talking Smack, the host Kayla Braxton spoke with Bianca Belair about what Carmella had to say on the bygone championship match from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The fighting champion had no problem, whatsoever in heading to a rematch. That being said, the rematch will go down on the next episode of SmackDown.
“Typical Carmella,” Bianca Belair stated on Talking Smack. “She had six days to prepare. People love to go on Twitter and talk about how they’re not bothered when they are, which is fine. She got in the ring with me tonight, so, all I can say is I’m a fighting champion and I don’t back down from anything. If she wants a rematch, let’s do it again next week. I’m all for it. Let’s do it. I’m saying, be careful what you ask for because now I’m granting it to Carmella, next week.”
The July 23 episode will be the post Money in the Bank edition of SmackDown which will begin the storylines for SummerSlam 2021. It will be a special edition, as well where the show will be having a split-site broadcast with multiple matches from the Rolling Loud festival in Miami, Florida. The actual show will take place from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. We’ll see whether Carmella can dethrone Belair from her title reign that began all the way back at WrestleMania 37.
