For the past few weeks, the rumors of WWE buying TNA are filling up the rumor mill. The arch-rival of WWE is in a dismal situation. They are not having the fund to channel their annual PPV called Bound for Glory. In this situation, they have put the company up for sale and Vince McMahon is the one who intended to buy it.
In a recent edition of ESPN’s show Dan Le Batard, TNA president Billy Corgan confirmed that WWE is in the race of buying the promotion. He also confirmed that there are several other parties who are intending to provide the fund for the company which is up for sale. He personally is not willing to sell it to the WWE Chairman and is looking into the matter to tackle the billionaire.
Vince McMahon’s intention to buy the company is mainly to get his hands on the company’s vast video library which consists of various former WWE Superstars. WWE Network is channeling 24/7 programs containing superstar’s wrestling careers and the inclusion of the TNA superstars will make the video library even bigger.
This is not the first time that Vince McMahon is willing to buy his nemesis. Previously he bought WCW and ECW and shut his rivals for good. If he does so with TNA, then apart from the video library there will be some of the newest members of the WWE roster from the rival company, too. Matt, Jeff Hardy, Bobby Lashley, Ethan Curter III are the prime superstars there and all of them has been WWE employees, previously.
WWE till date has never acknowledged the fact of buying TNA. They are intending to do it all of a sudden to shock the world. According to the sources, TNA and their existing championships will not continue once the Bound for Glory PPV is over. WWE will handpick some of the superstars from their roster to include either into the main roster or the NXT. They have already brought TNA names like Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Eric Young to the NXT brand. Stay tuned here for further updates regarding the deal between WWE and TNA.
