A natural heat exists between Conor McGregor and WWE Superstars since the UFC Fighter went bad mouth about the professional wrestling superstars in the past. He took nasty verbal jabs with top WWE stars like John Cena or Roman Reigns to heat up the situation. Sheamus was one of the names who hit back the MMA Fighter to build up a rift.

Now he looks forward to continuing the same. Sheamus recently spoke with Stephanie Chase from Digital Spy about UFC’s Conor McGregor potentially coming to WWE. The former WWE Champion revealed in the interview that he thinks it’s ‘just a matter of time’ that Conor eventually signs with the WWE. In the past, it has been teased for several occasions.

Why Roman Reigns Or Drew McIntyre Won’t Become WWE Faces

“He’s teased [coming to WWE] a couple of times,” Sheamus said. “He’s still staying active, he’s a lad who’s won belts, he’s done a lot, so I think he’s that type of person who’s always trying to try his hand at something different. I think WWE would suit him down to the ground. You know, we’ve had a lot of people come in and out, [Floyd] Mayweather came in, a lot of celebrities have come in, a lot of sports people.”

“So I don’t think anyone would raise eyebrows if he came in to WWE. I don’t think it’s if, I think it’s a matter of when to be honest.”

The first-ever Irish-born WWE Champion also added that he would love to get in a WWE ring with Conor McGregor. Sheamus definitely believes that this is a totally different league, altogether where the former UFC lightweight champion would receive some ‘slaps’ that he’s not experienced at all inside the Octagon. He’d be happy to give him a grand welcome.

“If he wants to come in there with me, that’s grand. He might get the fight of his life there, he might get couple of slaps he’s not used to. But that’s what it’s all about, getting in there and seeing a different type of environment.”

Conor McGregor could face problems with WWE schedule

While Sheamus agrees to the belief that Conor McGregor will eventually come to WWE when the time is right, he doesn’t think that the Notorious One will be ready to go through a WWE schedule. He pointed out how WWE is way more competitive and physically demanding than UFC. The WWE Superstars have big bumps every week (if not five days a week before the pandemic situation) than fighting just once or twice a year.

“In UFC you fight once a year or twice a year, in WWE we’re fighting every week,” Sheamus said. “We’re taking big bumps every week, the physicality we go through is crazy. It’s a different world we’re in, I think it’s definitely more competitive, it’s definitely more physical.”

“It takes more edge being in WWE than it does doing the UFC stuff. I’ll probably get slated online for saying that but until you actually do our schedule you don’t really realize how tough it is.”

UFC Superstars had problems in the past with the WWE schedule, genuinely. A top name like Ronda Rousey felt exhausted after wrestling through an entire year in a full-time schedule while Brock Lesnar has always been under a part-time contract. Now with Lesnar, the top heel away from the scene, this might be a perfect time for Conor McGregor to enter the scene and capture that spot.
