WWE has previously shown interest in bringing Daniel Cormier under their banner and they’re reportedly still willing to make the move in bringing the UFC veteran. It won’t be happening for an in-ring deal though as he could be a part of the announce team if the conversation progresses.
Rumors on WWE having an interest in Daniel Cormier started back in 2019, and he also even confirmed that he was having talks with the company. Back at that time, he was a UFC fighter whereas now he is retired from MMA competition. Dave Meltzer has now reported on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast that WWE still has an interest in signing him.
Daniel Cormier: WWE Interested In Veteran UFC Fighter
It’s not that only WWE officials are the only ones who want to bring Daniel Cormier to the company. FOX who airs SmackDown has also shown interest in bringing Cormier to the announce team for the blue brand. Currently, Michael Cole and Corey Graves are part of the commentary team.
The information has also been passed that while WWE and FOX want to bring Daniel Cormier in, UFC also wants to keep him around. He’s been associated with some UFC commentary work in the past and he could be down for more. He also reportedly has another TV offer that is said to be ‘pretty big’, but there’s no confirmation on who might have offered the same.

Meltzer also added that Daniel Cormier made some good money with UFC, provided high school wrestling, that is his passion. He has already set himself up to live a pretty good life now that his MMA career is done.
The 41-year-old MMA fighter announced his retirement on this past Saturday night after losing to UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic in the final fight of their trilogy at UFC 252. Cormier had previously noted before the fight that he already planned to retire from UFC after this final fight with Miocic.

Daniel Cormier had an interview with BT Sport in December 2019 where he confirmed to have talks with WWE. He was offered a role on WWE Backstage show on FS1 that was canceled a few months back due to coronavirus pandemic-related changes.
Daniel Cormier also revealed that he was in talks to appear at the press conference for Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez at WWE Crown Jewel last year. But none of those talks actually came to fruition. It is likely that he would make a decision about the next move in his career after he feels physically well, getting over the bruises from his final MMA fight.
