The much-anticipated moment for Drew McIntyre never happened at WrestleMania 37 as he couldn’t win the WWE Title in front of the fans. Bobby Lashley kicked off the Show of Shows by defeating him for the title in what appeared to be the biggest match of his career. That was a huge surprise for a lot of fans who put their money on the Scottish superstar.
Drew McIntyre winning the WWE Title in front of live fans was a tailor-made moment as he never tasted the same in the past. But that didn’t happen as WWE went all out in elevating Bobby Lashley’s status in a huge way. Thus, the All-Mighty went on to defeat the prime babyface superstar of the Monday Night RAW brand.

Not Sam Wrestling Podcast recently spoke to Drew McIntyre about his WrestleMania experience. He was obviously elated to have the fans back in an event and they delivered to the best of their ability to make the show of shows a memorable occasion. Drew McIntyre seemed happy with the fact that they were happy to make a top Superstar out of Bobby Lashley by the end of that match.
Drew McIntyre pointed out that WWE needed top superstars
“Absolutely. That moment with the fans, that’s going to be part of my story. A lot of people say ‘oh my goodness Drew I can’t believe you never won. You deserved this, that moment with the fans!’ or whatever. But as I was lying there after the match, and I heard the crowd was shocked almost and Lashley was standing there, I thought to myself ‘wow, we’ve made another superstar. This is great.’ We need top level superstars really bad. As many as we can make. And Bobby is now a top level star that he’s always been destined to be. Him and MVP together are magic,” Drew McIntyre stated. (Quotes courtesy Wrestling Inc)
Goldberg Was Originally Booked In Rematch At WWE Wrestlemania 37?
Drew McIntyre added that it’s a bitter-sweet thing that the audience never brought him the best of luck that everyone was hoping for. But that’s not much of an issue as his overprotected on-screen character proved to be very much mortal with this loss. Lashley choked him out with the Hurt Lock en route to his big title win.
It’ll be interesting to see how WWE uses Bobby Lashley’s character in the future, now he’s been put over in a big way by Drew McIntyre, and that too at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Currently, he must have to defend the WWE Title in a triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash on May 16th also featuring McIntyre and Braun Strowman.
