Some big WWE NXT talents namely Oney Lorcan, Scarlett Bordeaux (with Karrion Kross), Franky Monet, and Ember Moon have been released by the WWE in the recent set of budget cuts. It now appears that AAA is reportedly interested in a number of those former WWE talents alongside some of ROH talents, according to the latest reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

While new 18 WWE NXT/Raw/Smackdown talents were let go during the most recent cut, ROH also decided to go on a hiatus after their December Final Battle PPV. The company also announced that it would not be renewing any contracts on its roster.

ROH stars are now getting picked up. As seen on the AEW Full Gear 2021 PPV event, Jay Lethal was announced to be signed with the promotion. He’s set to chase the AEW TNT Championship on Wednesday’s Dynamite programming.

AAA also has its eyes on a few WWE NXT wrestlers, depending on what happens with the COVID-19 situation and their ability to sell tickets as and when the restrictions are lifted. Taya Valkyire (fka Franky Monet) is considered to be high on their list, once she is available.

Major WWE NXT names were released last year

Monet, who is married to WWE RAW Superstar John Morrison, was signed by WWE back in mid-February of this year. She previously received one shot at the WWE NXT Women’s Title this year, to then then-champion Raquel Gonzalez on September 29. Apart from that, she didn’t do much on WWE’s third brand. Monet has also not wrestled since losing to Cora Jade on the October 5 NXT show.

Killer Kross/Karrion Kross and Scarlett could also make their return to AAA, but the announcements can’t happen until 2022 as their non-compete clauses with WWE will have to run out, first.

Other names were also mentioned in the report and they are Gran Metalik, Flamita, Rey Horus, and Rush who could be potential future signees for AAA. Also, former ROH star Dragon Lee already signed a contract with the AAA company.

The released WWE NXT talents were told through emails that the reason for their cut was for “budget reasons,” but sources suggested that some talents were cut due to the COVID-19 vaccine or just because they have simply become aged persons.
