WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor is on a different zone right now who is standing at the top of his game just like in the old times. He was present as this week’s guest on the WWE After The Bell podcast hosted by Corey Graves. The reigning champion discussed his current run in NXT and revealed that he initially thought he’s supposed to be there for just a few months.

“I didn’t know what to expect,” he stated of his time in NXT. “I was kind of under the impression that it was going to be a 3 month deal. Reboot Finn, reset and go back to RAW or go back to SmackDown, go back to things as normal.”

Finn Balor noted that things have just improvised in his favor that something nobody has expected. The functioning seems to be something similar to that of how NXT has evolved as a brand. He mentioned how you have to know when to move from one chapter of your career to the next. He previously did this with his time wrestling in Europe, Japan, and WWE.

Moving on, Finn Balor was also asked which WWE Superstars he’d like to see in NXT. He cherished the fondly time of working with Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe, during his first NXT run. Some fans might have expected him to say the bane Kevin Owens or Ricochet or Joe for that reason. But he’d like to see Randy Orton on the black and gold brand.

“I feel like Randy could really bring NXT to the next level, with regards to the effect he’d have on the people around him in the locker room and in the ring, with his professionalism and his experience.”

Finn Balor believes himself to be a rookie

Finn Balor Thinks Randy Orton Can Help WWE NXT Roster 2

Finn Balor is the reigning NXT Champion and one of the very few who held the belt on multiple occasions. But he believes that he still has a lot to prove in WWE. Although wrestling for years all over the globe prior to making it to WWE, he still feels like a rookie performer when he steps into the ring under the Vince McMahon-owned banner. This gives him even more fire to prove himself belonging to the elite level.

“I don’t feel in any way that I’m a ‘vet’ in a sense. I know I’ve been around a little while in terms of the business, but with regards to WWE, I feel like I’m a rookie, like an up-and-comer. I still feel like I have a lot to prove. I need to prove that every night against every different talent in the ring.”

WWE has received criticisms about their lack of utilization of a bright talent like Finn Balor. He was moved from the main roster back to NXT, last year as the main roster didn’t have any plans for him. A veteran like him grabbed the opportunity and got hold of the opportunity to become a champion, again.
