Currently, the former Universal Champion Finn Balor wrestles at the NXT roster instead of being a part of the main roster. It’s undeniable that he had produced some of his biggest moments in his WWE career under his “Demon King” persona. Fans also love to see this character that was born from Irish mythology which hasn’t been seen on WWE TV, for sometimes.
Finn Balor: WWE Won’t Use The Demon King Gimmick, Anymore

Rumors are pretty high that we might never see Finn Balor with his Demon King gimmick, ever again in the WWE. According to Tom Colohue, Balor himself isn’t interested in using the Demon King gimmick again,
“There are no plans to ever see the Demon King again in the WWE. No plans at all to have it in NXT. Finn Balor doesn’t want the Demon King. He felt it was a bad thing to have on the main roster when he got there.
So he is rebuilding himself a little bit. There may be times when he may choose to go back to the Demon King but that’s being left up to him. But at the moment, no plans for Demon King.”

Finn Balor last used his Demon King gimmick at WWE Super ShowDown 2019 in Saudi Arabia, where he defeated Andrade to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Some reacted that the demonic figure’s existence was ruined on that night. Also, WWE never did justice to the character of the two-time NXT Champion on either Raw or SmackDown. So it’s pretty certain why we may never see the Demon King, again.
However, there’s one person on the roster who is more than willing to team with Finn Balor in a rematch. AJ Styles is that one who lost his Good Brothers Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on April 15th. But WWE still has the former Bullet Club member Finn Balor on the roster who would be ‘too sweet’ for Styles to share the ring with.
During a recent Twitch stream, the Phenomenal One was asked whom he would like to team with if he goes to NXT. AJ mentioned there are a lot of great choices, but he would like to align himself with another the former leader of the Bullet Club from NJPW days.
AJ added that it doesn’t matter if he needs to move to NXT, or Finn Balor needs to move to SmackDown. The bottom line would be they’ll be happy to team up. Plus, he could also fulfill his wish to become a tag team champion, someday.
“You know, the only championship I haven’t held in WWE is the tag team championship. If I’m able to find a partner at some point, and win those, I will have won all the belts in WWE. [Finn would make a great partner] but he’s in NXT and I’m on SmackDown, so I don’t know how that would ever work. Listen, whether I have to go down to NXT or he has to come to SmackDown, I’m willing to do that. I mean, shoot, it would be fun, and different is good.” (Quotes courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
