Last night, AEW Superstar Andrade El Idolo led the fans in speculating that he would not be appearing at AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door 2022. The blame was given to lucha libre wrestling promotions AAA and CMLL.

This would generate to a response from AAA booker Konnan, as Andrade claimed that AAA hadn’t paid him, and no clarification was provided on his status for the upcoming PPV event.

According to sources close to luchablog, Andrade will not be appearing at Forbidden Door 2022, later this month, despite initially being booked for the show. The premiere blog for lucha libre news around the US also noted that the Lucha Brothers, Penta Oscuro, and Rey Fenix are the other names who are barred from appearing in the jointly presented event.

No direct reason was stated for the top AEW Superstars’ absence but that can be attributed to CMLL’s working relationship with New Japan as all the three luchadores would have to be left off Forbidden Door 2022. Andrade, Penta, and Fenix are all associated with AAA, the rival promotion of CMLL in Mexico.

Andrade was reportedly booked for Forbidden Door 2022 while Penta Oscuro is scheduled to face Malakai Black for a chance to join the fatal-4-way match to be hosted for the AEW All Atlantic Championship. Fenix is scheduled for AAA’s next Showcenter event on June 26, the same day as Forbidden Door 2022 and hence it’s unlikely that he will make it to the show after all.
