Edge is back on the Smackdown main event scene who received a tremendous babyface reaction just like he got from the Raymond James Stadium crowd at WrestleMania 37, undoubtedly one of the loudest of that night. He returned as a babyface to set his sights right on the Universal Champion. Following his actions, a title match has been announced where he challenges Roman Reigns at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event set for July 18.

The sudden return of the Rated R Superstar on SmackDown caused a huge online stir where the fans are excited to see the dream Spear vs. Spear match, finally. The return also came, earlier than expected as previous reports claim that he would be back on July 16, the first SmackDown show amid the live crowd in Houston, Texas.

The hiatus of the 11-time world champion was planned as he only wrestles in a handful number of matches, these days. The return was also planned by the creative team for quite a while now. Edge vs Rollins still set for Summerslam 2021

The source was additionally told that Edge vs Seth Rollins is still the working plan for SummerSlam 2021. This sudden returned acted as a big surprise before Money in the Bank in a move that fans were not expecting. Plus, the returnee could also be a huge attraction for the live audience at MITB PPV. Edge signed a massive deal with the WWE in 2020 to make his shocking return at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view of that year after a nine-year hiatus. He was initially set to compete on some limited dates, including PPVs and television appearances. Afterward, he had to deal with another major injury that caused him to stay out of action for the latter part of 2020 before he returned and won Royal Rumble 2021.

Per the previous reports, the initial deal of Edge with WWE was for $3 million a year, and he will be paid in full as long as he fulfills obligations of wrestling three times per year alongside 25 more appearances on WWE television. But by the looks of it, his deal must have been changed as he is certainly looking forward to wrestling on more occasions in a year. With live fans back in attendance, he may be working on more dates in the future.
