Almost two years ago, Rob Van Dam tied the knot with former Impact Wrestling star Katie Forbes to start a new family life. The two have since been enjoying their lives to the fullest. Being two of the most fun-loving personas in the pro-wrestling circuit, they’re one happy couple. Despite slight mistakes and initial misunderstanding, the two seems to have always shared a special bond that holds them together.
On his “1 of a Kind” podcast, Rob Van Dam recently talked about meeting Forbes and how they ended up becoming a pair in real life. Apparently, Forbes had his eyes on the WWE Hall of Famer for a long time. The two met in the 2016 WrestleCon and she was really ecstatic to meet the wrestling idol in person.
“Katie and I met at WrestleCon in Dallas in 2016. She was there at the Wildcats booth with Luke Hawkes, and I was just a few booths away from her,” Rob Van Dam said. “She wanted to meet me. I didn’t know, but I was already on her radar. She already had her eye on me. She was training with Wildcats, and she had asked Luke to bring me in because Luke would bring in some guys and do wrestling seminars. Guys that aren’t as expensive as RVD.”
Rob Van Dam noted that he asked Forbes for a hug, and the response was negative. However, she does have “amazing energy.” Forbes eventually slipped her number into RVD’s bag, but he wasn’t aware of it, “She was kind of upset that I didn’t call her, but I didn’t even know that I had it.”

Rob Van Dam went on a date with Katie Forbes after Wrestlemania 32
Following Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas, Rob Van Dam went on his first date with Katie Forbes. While walking on the beach, they held hands and realized an instant connection. The WWE Legend also reminded Forbes about his problems in life from that timespan but that didn’t stop her from falling for him,
“I picked her up in the afternoon, and we […] walked out on the beach. Pretty soon we were holding hands, it was like we had known each other a long time. We got along really well,”
Forbes also had a misunderstanding with Rob Van Dam about his past relationship and having children from it. But from that instance, it was also clarified that the two started seeing each other and hence, it was time for him to stop seeing other girls and be committed to Forbes, only,
“I always knew she was special. It did take her telling me that we were seeing each other, that it wasn’t cool to be dating these other girls anymore. When she let it be known, I believe her that she was telling me how much she thought of me. I was like, ‘Wow, people don’t just say that stuff.’ I thought that this girl’s in love with me.”
