Over the past couple of years, the stock has been rising for Zelina Vega ever since she returned to the WWE in 2021 following Wrestlemania 37. While she did have to go on a hiatus again due to injury, she was able to make a valiant comeback and remain relevant on the roster. It appears that Zelina Vega had never imagined getting this much success as an in-ring competitor in the WWE if not The Rock had to convince her to stick around the pro wrestling scene. For those The Brahma Bull and his production house selected her to portray the role of AJ Lee in Fighting With My Family feature film based on former WWE Superstar Paige’s life.
Zelina Vega was hopeless about her WWE career after failed tryouts
Being one of the producers of the film, The Rock was involved with the production to a big extent. While speaking on Busted Open Radio, the Puerto Rican native talked about the legendary WWE Superstar offering her the role in the film. During the conversation, Zelina Vega also revealed that she was about to quit pro wrestling after failed WWE tryouts but it was him who gave her the needed pep-talk.
“It’s funny because I was about to quit. When Dwayne [Johnson] and I spoke about it, right after I had a WWE tryout for the seventh time…at that point, I was like, ‘I’ve given it my all. They haven’t seen what they’re looking for. I can’t do this,’” Zelina Vega continued.
“To go from that to train at the Performance Center, it’s been a dream come true. Had I not said anything to him [The Rock], to not be able to live this dream…it’s crazy how these little things [work]. If one thing had just changed, none of this would have happened. I owe a lot to him.”

Zelina Vega had become the inaugural and only Queen’s Crown winner in the WWE in 2021, an accolade, capitalizing on which, she went on to become a one-time Women’s tag team championship winner alongside Carmella. Then she also fulfilled the dream to compete in front of her hometown crowd of Puerto Rico for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Backlash 2023.
