To the delight of the WWE Universe, John Cena made a surprise return to TV at the Money in the Bank 2023 premium live event. In the hidden return from the internet, the greatest of all time talked about how he’s focused on bringing WrestleMania to London, a move that brought tons of attention around the UK fans.
Also at Money in the Bank, SmackDown wrestler Grayson Waller interrupted John Cena’s promo session and tried to book him for his talk show named The Grayson Waller Effect. However, the plans backfired after he was laid out with an Attitude Adjustment in the middle of the ring.

John Cena made a one-off appearance at Money in the Bank 2023
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that the 16-time world champion returned to WWE for Money in the Bank was kept a closely guarded secret. No creative plans were reserved for him in the first place and hence, we shouldn’t expect him to be in a match in the near future. Here’s more from what the source had to offer,
“John Cena made a shocking return to WWE in London at WWE Money in the Bank. As was the case with several things on the show, WWE did very well at keeping it a secret, as it was kept very close to the vest, and almost no one knew that Cena would be there….
As of now, WWE higher-ups tell Fightful that Cena was only set for this show and didn’t have upcoming programs planned. Though that can always change if his schedule frees up. WWE were very happy with how things went for his appearance.”

After Fightful confirmed this appearance being a one-off deal, Dave Meltzer further commented on Wrestling Observer Radio that John Cena had to immediately fly back after Money in the Bank to shoot for the project that he’s currently involved with. So, there’s no chance that The Cenation Leader is coming back, soon.
The last time John Cena was seen in action was at Wrestlemania 39, earlier this year. Competing for the United States Championship, he came up short against the top brass heel of the WWE.
