WWE Universe is yet to get over the surprise appearance that The Rock had on the September 15 episode of Smackdown. Coming back to his home, he was “layin’ the smacketh down” on Austin Theory and the crowd was more than happy to see that. Now, the question remains whether The Great One is indeed coming back for the final anticipated match against Roman Reigns.

Since his appearance on Smackdown can be considered to be a one-off appearance and not a permanent return, WWE fans are expecting him to enter a storyline to start beefing with The Bloodline. WWE has already generated 100 million views across all the social media platforms thanks to his appearance and they could get even more views with a pre-announced segment.

Elimination Chamber 2024: Update On The Rock’s Appearance At WWE PLE

As for this bygone appearance at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, The Rock made his first televised WWE appearance since October 2019. During Wrestling Observer Radio, veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer provided details on this return and indicated how the football game insinuated things in favor of the WWE.

“Well, he was there for the football game,” Meltzer said. “[The] Colorado State game, he was there on the sidelines the next day, so he was there for the football game in Boulder, Colorado, and Denver’s right there. So it all made sense.”

The Rock yet to take the final call on Wrestlemania 40 appearance

Plans for a potential The Rock vs. Roman Reigns showdown are yet to be locked down. BWE previously that Triple H had a meeting backstage with The Brahma Bull to discuss story options for Wrestlemania 40 but they didn’t reach any agreement. With that, there’s still a question mark on The People’s Champion heading into Philadelphia for the dream match against his cousin.

Speaking about the chances of seeing The Rock coming back for this match, Meltzer noted how the ball has always been on his court and not the WWE. It was noted how this year the stage was all set from Hollywood to make the match become a reality but then things got scrapped as he wasn’t simply ready to be in action,

“LA was going to be the one he would do it in because SoFi Stadium, 100,000 people, and all that … But he basically felt that he didn’t have time to get into ring shape; he had his other projects … [He] talked about, ‘Maybe this year?’ And this year there’s a [Hollywood] strike; there’s not a lot of work for him. There’s still the XFL, and if the strike ends, things can change, but it’s his for the taking.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
