Proving all the earlier speculations true, IYO SKY did become the 2023 Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match winner at the latest bygone Money in the Bank Premium Live Event from the United Kingdom, this past weekend. This win earns her the opportunity to challenge for either the WWE Women’s Championship on Smackdown or the WWE Women’s World Championship on Raw.

Meanwhile, IYO SKY is still in possession of her Money in the Bank briefcase which makes her the second-longest holder of the women’s division history. Except for Carmella and the latest winner, no one in the past has waited for 24 hours before cashing in the briefcase.

IYO SKY Already Holds A Record After 2023 WWE Money In The Bank Ladder Match Win 1

WWE’s first women’s Money in the Bank ladder match took place in 2017 which ended with controversy. The man who grabbed the briefcase to win on Carmella’s behalf was James Ellsworth and the victory was thus canceled. Carmella eventually won the contract for the second time before cashing it in on Charlotte Flair in April 2018.

IYO SKY is the second-longest MITB briefcase holder

Thus she remains the longest holder of the WWE Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase for 287 days. Back then she also broke the record of the men’s division record set by WWE Hall of Famer Edge who held the contract for 281 days in 2005-06. Now, IYO SKY is the only woman except for Carmella to have kept the briefcase for more than a day.

The 2018 Money in the Bank winner, Alexa Bliss, the 2019 winner Bayley, the 2020 winner Asuka, the 2021 winner Nikki A.S.H and the 2022 winner Liv Morgan cashed in either on the same night of Money in the Bank ladder match or on the very next night on Raw. No failed cash-in has been scored from the female division history, thus far. Rumors do suggest one such experience could go down with IYO SKY.

Time will tell how WWE wants the Japanese sensation to execute her due cash-in. This past Saturday night, in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, IYO SKY defeated Trish Stratus, Becky Lynch, Zoey Stark, Bayley, and Zelina Vega to secure the jackpot via which she’s going to become a future champion.
