John Cena is a bonafide future WWE Hall of Famer who racked up 16 World Championships in his career. Plus, he carried the WWE on his back throughout the PG era and a major part of the Ruthless Aggression Era. During that timespan, he went toe-to-toe with numerous other WWE Legends to set up his own legacy and solidify his status as a main-eventer.
From 2016 onward, John Cena became a part-timer in WWE as has moved to the Hollywood industry to do some movies. This is the reason why he’s been making sporadic appearances on WWE TV. But he keeps coming back whenever getting a free-time from that packed filming spree. That being said, there’s a chance that he gets to face one of his long-time rivals in a future WrestleMania match.

John Cena’s rivalry with WWE Hall Of Famer Edge is well-documented as fans will agree that they have featured in one of the best rivalries in the history of the company. These two hammering away at each other was a regular scene in the late 2000s on WWE TV. Despite facing off each other so many times, the two never had a one on one match at WrestleMania. Perhaps, there’s still a chance to see that happening.

John Cena vs. Edge never wrestled one-on-one at Wrestlemania
While speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Edge talked about John Cena’s return to the WWE in 2021. The Rated R Superstar proceeded to mention that it’s kind of strange that he didn’t get to share the Grandest Stage of Them All with the Cenation Leader. But he isn’t ruling out that WrestleMania match against his bitter rival as you can ‘never say never’ in the WWE.
“The only thing with John and I; we never wrestled a one-on-one at WrestleMania. Which is crazy, right? We did (work a lot together). We worked everything else, but!”
“I mean, the scent is in the air; you never know. It could happen one day!”
Edge also pointed out the fact that originally his feud with Mr. Hustle, Loyalty and Respect was expected to last only for three weeks that is in January of 2006. But then their chemistry was soo good that they went on to feature in multiple programs, down the road.
After Edge’s Money In The Bank cash-in at the New Year’s Revolution 2006 PPV on John Cena, the two superstars wrestled each other on several pay-per-views, including Royal Rumble 2006, Backlash 2006 (triple threat), SummerSlam 2006, Unforgiven 2006, Backlash 2007 (Fatal-4-Way) WrestleMania 25 (triple threat), Backlash 2009, Fatal-4-Way 2010 and Night of Champions 2010 (Six-Way). But they never had an actual one-on-one WrestleMania match.
