John Cena is coming back on the WWE programming which is big news for the pro wrestling universe. This will also be beneficial on WWE’s part as they could simply hope to get a better audience and viewership in the presence of their former franchise player. Besides, WWE will also be utilizing his presence for India’s Superstar Spectacle live event.
There is a reason why John Cena was able to come back after such a long period and at a point when he was supposed to be tremendously busy with this filming schedule. As previously reported by Ringside News his WWE return has been in the works since the SAG-AFTRA strike started, a few months back. That strike eventually put Hollywood to a halt and gave a bright opportunity for the WWE.
John Cena’s WWE return associated with strike in Hollywood
An updated report suggests that since the SAG-AFTRA strike isn’t going to end, anytime soon, the Cenation Leader’s schedule in the foreseeable future is clear and he might continue to appear for the WWE, much longer than expected. WWE already advertised John Cena for two months and that could go beyond the time depending on how long the ongoing strike continues.
WWE Smackdown: Spoiler On John Cena’s Involvement On September 1 Episode
Not everyone in the wrestling community is taking the return lightly, though. Although WWE isn’t oriented with the strike, directly, their shows do involve a lot of writers. Former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz told WrestlingNewsCo’s 10 Count podcast that John Cena’s return to the sports entertainment promotion could be more complex than just getting a paycheck. He could have rather shown support for the strike by not returning to the WWE,
“It’s not a great look to then go on WWE and be performing while these strikes are going on. Everyone has their own mindset. If I know WWE, I’m thinking this deal with John Cena — especially if he’s booked to wrestle overseas or wherever Superstar [Spectacle] is — has been inked to paper a long time ago.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
