John Cena is not only a name that belongs to professional wrestling but also from the Hollywood industry. There was a time when WWE programming was fully dependent on his presence but as time progressed, the company had to learn to move on from him given his transition to the movies. He faced many adversaries during his time in the WWE to tell some great stories.
There’s no one in WWE history who is more acquainted with John Cena than Randy Orton as the two have been featured in an uncountable number of matches. In fact, the latter has now been dubbed to be the Shawn Michaels of his generation for the work ethic shown by him against Super Cena.
Update On John Cena’s Retirement From WWE After Multiple Teases
John Cena has tons of praise for Randy Orton for his in-ring work
Before he faces Solo Sikoa at this weekend’s WWE Crown Jewel 2023 premium live event in Saudi Arabia, John Cena appeared on WWE’s YouTube channel to look back at some of his classic matches. One of those tough fights was the Iron Man match he had with Randy Orton at the Bragging Rights 2009 pay-per-view. Remembering that battle, The Cenation Leader talked about the several matches he had with Orton and how good he was in the ring.
“Randy is my generation’s Shawn Michaels,” said John Cena. “He has [an] understanding of nuance and how important it is. He has the best timing of anybody. Like, he’s always there, he’s never late. He shows emotion as a performer. He’s incredible. He makes difficult look simple, always.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
John Cena and Randy Orton started their WWE journey together in Ohio Valley Wrestling before debuting on the main roster in 2002. From the very beginning, their careers remained interconnected in the company. They squared off against each other numerous times on TV in several environments and Bragging Rights 2009 was perhaps the most sadistic battle between the two.
John Cena is set to square off against Solo Sikoa at the WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event on November 4th in Saudi Arabia. This is the final event that has the former WWE Champion booked in his current stint as he looks forward to picking up his first solo PPV win in more than five years against The Bloodline member.
