The headliner of this week’s Smackdown was the rematch from Money in the Bank. Kofi Kingston went head to head against Kevin Owens on the show. However, this time around, the match took place in a non-title capacity. We thought the scheduled match was going to be the main event of the night. However, the two opened this week’s Tuesday Night episode as we were underway for the match after these two cut a decent promo.

Rumor Killer On Ronda Rousey Returning To Smackdown

Kofi Kingston digested a tremendous amount of punishment for the better part of this Smackdown matchup. At one point, Kevin Owens delivered a splash to Kofi off the ring apron to the floor! He almost on the match unless the champion managed to break the referee’s count by crawling back to the ring on the nine-count. Owens continued the attack by delivering another frog splash and senton off the ropes. But Kofi managed to kick out and countered a pop-up powerbomb attempt with a Trouble in Paradise to get the win. This win sent a strong message to his Super ShowDown opponent, Dolph Ziggler.

Kofi Kingston had a successful championship defense at Money in the Bank pay-per-view. He defeated Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship to prove every critic wring. This also confirmed that the Wrestlemania win was not a fluke. Meanwhile, the chip on his shoulder became bigger as he is out to cement his own legacy.

Last week, Dolph Ziggler returned out of nowhere to ruin his celebration on Smackdown. A vicious assault followed thereafter to take the champion out for good. In fact, medical personnel had to rush towards the ring to provide him attention. But he still left the ramp alone leaving the fight for another day.

As we will know, Kofi Kingston is a champion who does back down from any fight. So he accepted the challenge laid down by Dolph Ziggler and thereby confirmed a match at WWE Super ShowDown. Ziggler tried to deliver another assault on this week’s WWE Raw but Kofi fended him off and arrived on Smackdown to have a Money in the Bank rematch against Kevin Owens. His resiliency once again prevailed as he put away Kevin Owens in a rematch on the show.
