This was the second last episode of Smackdown Live before the Super ShowDown event on June 7th. The WWE Championship picture was the main focus heading into the show. The Champion featured in a rematch from Money in the Bank rematch against Kevin Owens. The women’s champion was also in action against a Raw superstar. Universal Championship Match Announced For Super ShowDown
Smackdown opens with Kevin Owens cutting a heel promo about The New Day. He went bad-mouth about the Oklahoma people and predicted that Ziggler will beat Kofi for the title at Super ShowDown. The WWE Champion soon came out throwing pancakes and pointed out how Kevin attacked Big E, last week. He is about to repay him for his misdeeds.
Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens was underway as the opening contest of Smackdown. A big splash by Kevin followed off the ring apron to Kofi, outside the ring. Kofi got back to the ring on referee’s 9-count. Kevin hit another splash on Kofi alongside a senton. Kofi fought back and countered a powerbomb attempt with a Trouble in Paradise for the win.
Smackdown Tag Team Champions, Daniel Bryan and Rowan were in the ring for an interview with Kayla Braxton. They cut another heel promo blasting the people of the city and how they become planet’s tag team champions. Sooner, Heavy Machinery arrived in the ring wanting a tag team title match against the champs. But they denied to compete in Oklahoma and left the ring.
Carmella vs. Mandy Rose was the next matchup on Smackdown. Mandy showed her Muscle & Fitness magazine cover but Carmella kicked it away. Mandy hit Mella’s face hard into the turnbuckle followed by a snapmare. Carmella countered with a Hurricurana and a Bronco Buster. Sonya distracted Mella, afterward allowing Mandy to roll up her opponent and win the match.
Shane McMahon Appreciation Night was next on Smackdown where we saw clips from his career. R-Truth ran into the ring as superstars were chasing him down to get the 24/7 Championship. Elias hit him with a Drift Away and Drew followed up with a Claymore Kick to make Elias the new 24/7 Champion.
WWE Smackdown women’s champion Bayley vs. Lacey Evans was the next matchup with Charlotte Flair in the commentary. Lacey hit a modified bronco buster on the champ who came back with a dropkick to send her out of the ring. She also hit a forearm on Charlotte who distracted the referee. Bayley took advantage of the chaos and pinned Lacey with the roll-up. An irate Lacey attacked Charlotte after the match creating a brawl.
Roman Reigns and R-Truth vs. Elias and Drew McIntyre was the main event match lineup on Smackdown. While Truth was making his entrance, the two heels attacked him from the back. Reigns arrived to provide backup to Truth. Drew and Elias punished a hurt Truth throughout the match until Reigns got the tag to hit a Superman Punch on Drew and a Drive-By on Elias. He ducked a Claymore attempt by Drew sending him to announce table. Back in the ring, Reigns hit a spear on Elias to get the pinfall win. He hit another spear on Elias after the match as Truth pinned him to win back the 24/7 Championship to close the show.
