As per the reports of Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, Daniel Bryan of WWE, real name Bryan Danielson, has recently signed a deal with All Elite Wrestling. That being said, the rumors for him to make a return to the WWE have been put to the rest. Haynes, later has come up with an update to provide more details on the rumored AEW deal and his debut.
In another exclusive report given by Haynes, Daniel Bryan’s AEW debut is scheduled for the September 22 episode of AEW Dynamite called Grand Slam. The show is scheduled to take place in Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York which marks the promotion’s first show in New York and their second in the Tri-State area following Dynamite in Newark, New Jersey.

Haynes further mentioned that Daniel Bryan’s debut is actually saved for that show in order to seal the plans for AEW leading into the All Out PPV. However, he further noted that plans could witness some changes, given that there are reports of AEW also talking to CM Punk as another potential returnee. This could move the former Yes Nation Leader’s debut.
Daniel Bryan reportedly confirmed to be gone to AEW
The original report by Haynes stated that Daniel Bryan is now “100% locked in” to appear in AEW who had already signed a contract. He had chosen AEW over WWE as he will be receiving a limited schedule with similar pay to his WWE contract, which WWE may haven’t been willing to provide. Plus, he will also provide creative input in his character, the similar way he used to work in Japan.
Back in May, reports suggested that WWE and New Japan had been engaged in talks over a working relationship and Daniel Bryan was a key part of those talks. WWE was apparently keen on letting Bryan work for both the promotions but those talks never produced any outcomes.
Daniel Bryan was last seen on WWE Smackdown TV, where he lost to Roman Reigns and as per the stipulation of the match, he was banned from Smackdown. His contract reportedly expired with WWE, just a few days later. Neither he nor the WWE had issued any public statements on that issue. It’s assumed that the former WWE Champion has been a free agent for the past few months.
It was recently reported by PWInsider that WWE didn’t have any internal discussions about Daniel Bryan returning to their promotion. He was also not on the list of talent plans for merchandising, licensing, and future action figure releases by Mattel. That being said, we must have seen the last of the popular Superstar on the WWE TV screen.
