As reported earlier, Shane McMahon was “quietly let go” from WWE following Royal Rumble 2022. He was originally scheduled to compete at Elimination Chamber as well as Wrestlemania 38 but then he was released after picking up significant heat for his role as a producer and writer of the Men’s Royal Rumble Match that took place on January 29. He also competed in the match, but that action was reportedly heavily criticized.

Talents didn’t like the way how he took charge of the booking and tried to make the match centered around himself. Vince McMahon was upset about this and he ended up releasing his own son from the contract but he didn’t want to make a situation out of it. Hence, it was done in a hush-hush process.

Shane McMahon reportedly continued to push for the ideas but that never took place.

Shane McMahon apparently wasn’t aware of the current WWE storylines and he didn’t know what was happening on TV, which led to certain dull moments in The Rumble. He also allegedly tried to “pull the McMahon card” with the other Men’s Royal Rumble Match producers, and let things happen in his way to have a big moment in the match. But things turned out in a negative way.

WWE hasn’t confirmed Shane McMahon’s release from the contract but he was subsequently pulled from RAW, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 38 plans. It’s likely that he won’t be seen for a long time.
