Natalya and Tamina Snuka have become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions during this week’s SmackDown. The WrestleMania Backlash go-home edition on FOX saw the challengers defeat the champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler in the opening contest to capture the titles. This is the first title reign, together for these two superstars.
The finish of the match witnessed Natalya neutralizing Shayna Baszler by hitting a German Suplex into the barrier, outside the ring. Back in the ring, Jax caught her with a big Samoan Drop but she didn’t realize that Tamina was waiting with her pendant Superfly Splash off the top rope that decided the pinfall win, allowing the straps to change hands.

As mentioned, this is the first title reign for Natalya and Snuka together, their first also, separately. Snuka has also earned her first-ever major title win in WWE if we exclude the 24/7 Title win. Nattie has also become a female wrestler in the WWE who has reigns with WWE Divas Championship, SmackDown Women’s Championship, and Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Jax and Baszler won the titles during the Royal Rumble Kickoff pre-show back on January 31, by defeating Asuka and Charlotte Flair. It was their second title reign that came to an end. Meanwhile, this match has been hyped up even before SmackDown has aired on FOX, as a potential plug-in for the title win for Natalya and Tamina Snuka.
