The summer season is at its peak in 2022 and the absence of Randy Orton turned out to be a big blow for the wrestling promotion. The planned main event of the biggest event of the summer had to be changed and re-booked in a Wrestlemania 38 rematch about which WWE fans aren’t very much pleased.
Since the Wrestlemania 38 season, Randy Orton was factored into WWE’s main event scene for a significant time. But he hasn’t been seen on television since RK-Bro lost the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match to The Usos on SmackDown in June.
Roman Reigns Surpasses Randy Orton In Impressive Feat In WWE
To show off a storyline injury, Randy Orton and Riddle were attacked by The Bloodline after the match on the Smackdown brand. The Viper needed back surgery and that was the actual reason for him to go into a hiatus. But that didn’t stop WWE from advertising him for an upcoming live event.
Randy Orton is currently being advertised for an upcoming house show for July 16th which is being dubbed as the Saturday Night’s Main Event taking place at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center in Tallahassee, Florida. It’s interesting to have the future WWE Hall of Famer on the card since he is in no condition to make his return to TV for the rest part of this year.
Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan, Riddle, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch are also being advertised to appear on that house show scheduled in Florida. As for the absent Raw Superstar, he’s likely to be pulled in time for the show.
Randy Orton and Riddle’s teaming was a short-term plan
During last year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, Matt Riddle and Randy Orton challenged AJ Styles and Omos for the RAW Tag Team Championships. Team RK-Bro ended up winning that match and since then they have never looked back due to their popularity.
Speaking on BT Sport, Riddle admitted that this team was initially put together for a short union, only,
“You never know who is going to be the next big thing or what’s going to attract a mass audience. RK-Bro started getting legs and taking off, it wasn’t supposed to last this long, at all. Randy was supposed to beat me up, probably, but the people loved it so much and they just went with it.”
