The first-ever “Firefly Inferno Match” between “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton turned out to be the main event of the WWE TLC 2020 pay-per-view event. While many have expected the demonic character to pick up the win putting down the Viper in style, the outcome was completely opposite. The ending saw something we have never seen in WWE programming, before. Someone literally burnt with the fire by the end of the match.

The Fiend dropped Randy Orton with a big Uranage before snapping his neck. He lit the ax-handle on fire but Orton avoided a shot with it and decked him. Orton then hit the ring-draping DDT from the apron on the floor. Fiend blocked the RKO and applied the Mandible Claw. Orton then pushed his opponent into the fire to win the match. As per the rule, The Fiend’s jacket and pants went on fire as he lost the match.

After the match, Randy Orton got back in the ring and The Fiend ran down after him, only to get dropped by an RKO. Orton then poured gasoline all over the Fiend and threw a match-stick on him, causing The Fiend’s entire body to go up in flames. It eventually burnt down as his opponent enjoyed every bit of it. Orton did his trademark pose to send TLC 2020 off the air. For the first time, TLC didn’t have any Tables, Ladder, and Chairs match in the main event.

The match was pre-taped on Sunday afternoon, according to WrestleVotes. This is the reason which allowed them to do the stunts with the fire and that ending which saw The Fiend burning in the fire. This match was also not originally scheduled to headline the show. The source tweeted, “The Inferno Match was pre-taped this afternoon and as of the first rundown, wasn’t scheduled to be the main event. Interesting move.”

Shortly after TLC 2020 ended, Bray Wyatt tweeted a photo of a cocoon along with the words, “Thank You.” The photo could be implying the fact that the fire would eventually change him. This also means that he is going to come back and hunt down Randy Orton, perhaps.

He had posted a related tweet this morning, saying, “The thing about fire is, it does what it pleases. I burn, you burn, we all burn. Eventually.” We’ll see how this angle plays out when WWE Raw airs, this week.
