Ronda Rousey captured the second Smackdown Women’s Championship of her career by defeating Charlotte Flair say in an “I Quit” to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. It happened at the WrestleMania Backlash 2022 premium live event after which the genetically-superior athlete went into the longest hiatus of her entire WWE career, to date.
The finish of the bygone match helped WWE to write her off the TV due to an injury angle. After Charlotte Flair gave Ronda one last warning and wished her Happy Mother’s Day, Ronda pulled her arm through a Steel Chair and locked in the Armbar to force Flair to scream I Quit. Apparently, it was at that moment that Flair ended up breaking her arm in a kayfabe way.

The injury was shown as the reason why Charlotte Flair stayed away from WWE TV for such a long time. In reality, she reportedly had to address some of the personal problems with her husband and hence decided to take the time off. Besides this, she also had to take care of her teeth which needed surgical repairs.
Charlotte Flair had got to spend time with Andrade
While speaking on After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves, WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair talked about Charlotte Flair’s return to WWE television that happened on the December 30, 2022, episode of Smackdown. Ric revealed that his daughter took time off to get done with dental surgery. Plus, she also spent a lot of time with her husband Andrade El Idolo.
“The arm thing with Ronda and she got hit in the mouth in that same match and had a major issue with her teeth, which are from all the years of cheerleading, wrestling, and whatever else, but it was a well deserved rest….. she and Manny (Andrade) had an opportunity to spend a lot of time together. They bought a new home. I mean, it’s really been good for them.”
It was added by the Nature Boy that Charlotte Flair wanted to get back to the WWE scene, no matter what after a certain amount of time and she did it in a right-most way by taking the Smackdown Women’s Title away from Ronda Rousey. With that win, she became a 14-time Women’s Champion to get one step closer to breaking her father’s 16 world title win records.
