The news of WWE India possibly getting a huge stadium show garnered news as the top superstars from the WWE roster were set to step their foot inside the squared circle in front of their eyes. The latest disappointing news is that the show won’t be taking place at the beginning of the new year. Due to some reasons, the event has been scrapped or rather postponed.

While a WWE India show was in the pipeline for the first time since 2017, WrestleVotes noted on Twitter that the has reportedly been postponed to a further date,
“I’m told the proposed WWE Live Event in India scheduled for 1/18 has been postponed for unspecified reasons.”

Now, according to the Wrestling Observer, it was revealed that the WWE India show got postponed because of WWE’s TV partner in India. Apparently, the current Sony SIX broadcasting platform is getting merged with Zee network and the show was held back until the merger is completed,
“The decision was made by Sony Six, which is merging with Zee in India, to hold off the show until the merger is finalized. The merger is expected to go through in April, so the show would take place after April.”
WWE India show could be rescheduled
While the exact date of the WWE India event wasn’t revealed, it should go down after Wrestlemania 39 in April, as per the above report. The show was scheduled to take place at Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Indoor Stadium with just 5000 seating capacity. Ringside News reported that it fell in conjunction with a television deal and that eventually led to the cancellation of the show.
Drew McIntyre recently visited India for some filming projects in the WWE. Apparently, he filmed a WWE TV commercial with Bollywood Actor John Abraham and a southern version of the ad. This visit sparked the chances of seeing a WWE India event after a long wait of almost six years. However, Indian fans will now have to wait some time more to have a WWE show on their soil.
