John Cena has been the poster figure of the WWE for almost 15 long years and the main reason to be in that position was his charisma to connect with the people. While he may sound or look colorful on TV, he was a strict person bound by his own personal laws. As seen on the Total Divas and Total Bellas TV shows, he had some infamous house rules upon learning of which, the fans were shocked.
Those rules were revealed for the very first time on the October 5, 2016, episode of the reality show Total Bellas on the E Network. John Cena, who used to live with his then-girlfriend Nikki Bella, had several Bella family members as guests in his home at one point. During a family dinner, he informed guests about the strict rules they were supposed to follow during their stay.

Those Visitors were instructed by John Cena to attend a formal dinner once a week, usually on a Wednesday. The guests could have worn shoes to the dinner, but only if they were clean. There were more additional rules to follow, specific for men and women after the dinner which were pretty tough to be abode by while staying inside a house.
“Respect the house as if it was your own,” John Cena said. “And if your own habits are leaving your towels on the floor, not attending to your laundry, not making your bed every day, then change your habits and respect ours. Every evening, when formal dinner is over, the ladies will retreat to the drawing-room, which is upstairs. The men will retreat to the cigar room.”

Plus, John Cena also instructed the guests on how to start and end the day in that house,
“Every morning we will have morning coffee together. We will have an evening fire outside. Trash – trash is picked up every Monday. There are four 62-gallon trash cans. If you guys are gonna be up late, please text me or tell me.”

Nikki Bella mentioned that John Cena’s house was like his own baby
In one of the monologs, Nikki Bella had the following to say as she was trying to explain how much the house meant to her ex-flame as if it was like his own baby,
“John has a lot of rules, and of course, I know that better than anyone because I’ve had to sign a contract to live in this home. This is his baby, like legit his baby.”
Nikki’s twin sister Brie Bella, on the other hand, ended up having problems coping with John Cena’s house rules. She was particularly irate about the fact that she was told to keep her dog, Josie, in a guest house instead of staying with them,
“I have to make my bed. I have to keep Josie out of the house. It feels like all what I’m missing out on is what time my curfew is. I don’t need someone to tell me how to live.”
In 2017, those infamous John Cena house rules were used as part of a storyline when he teamed up with Nikki Bella to face the pair of The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33. This storyline also allowed the 16-time World Champion to bend down on his knees to propose to her then lady-love. However, just a year later, they broke off the engagement and went their separate ways.
