Revealed: The Origin Of The ‘Goldberg’ Name And Creative Planning Around Him 1

Goldberg is one of the dominant wrestlers that the pro-wrestling universe has ever seen. He once possessed a streak of 173-0 which is still a record, to date. After debuting back in the WWE in 2003, it took him 12 long years to return here, again.

His birth as a wrestler was not here, though. The arch-rival of the WWE during the 90s i.e. WCW was the possessor of this wrestler who gradually went on to become a phenomenon. He worked there as the franchise of the company to win the World Heavyweight championship for twice before Vince McMahon took over the WCW.

Now, in an interesting conversation, we got to know where did the Goldberg name come from. Sean Waltman aka X-Pac revealed it while attending the Tomorrow Show, recently. He discussed a number of topics like the death of Nicole Bass, Kendall Jenner wearing NWO shirt and the origin of the name of Goldberg.

He said that the WCW creative was not sure what name they should put to him prior to his debut. They were in a dilemma while giving him a good name since he was going to be the franchise of the company. Later the creative decided to go with his real name of Bill Goldberg.

X-Pac also revealed that they even thought of the name ‘The Hybrid’ for him. But, Goldberg name was retained and made to be infamous. His work ethics made his character a behemoth one.

His run ever since returning has turned out to be a great success, till date and will come to an end at this year’s Wrestlemania. This was the creative blueprint for him after he joined the flagship brand, last October.
• Goldberg defeats Lesnar at Survivor Series in a squash match.
• He will cost him again at the Royal Rumble match.
• He will become the Universal champion before Wrestlemania.
• Brock Lesnar defeats him in a title match at Mania.
There’s still no update whether he will back after Wrestlemania season is over.
