Roman Reigns has been built up as undoubtedly the most dominant champion in the last decade of WWE history. As the current WWE Universal Champion, he has been holding the title since August 2020 and the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship is around his shoulder for almost 1000 days. If the longest reign is the measurement then he’s indeed the greatest of all time.
Without a doubt, Roman Reigns is reaching closer to touch 1,000-day milestone which ultimately should solidify his legacy as the Greatest of All Time. But there’s another question and that’s whether he can continue his reign of dominance in the WWE until the end of this year. And for the fourth consecutive year, he still is the favorite to end the year as the reigning champion.
WWE Smackdown: Champions Advertised To Appear On Post Wrestlemania 39 Episode
According to the latest odds released by BetOnline, Roman Reigns should end the year as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion or with at least one title on his shoulder, either the WWE or Universal Champion in case WWE decides to split those belts in due course. The Tribal Chief currently has the best odds of -115 to be the champion at the end of 2023.
Wrestlemania 39 Becomes The Most Successful Wrestlemania Of All Time In WWE History
The Rock is still considered to return and face Roman Reigns for his title
These odds are putting him ahead of notable other names like Cody Rhodes and The Rock, who isn’t regular roster member of the WWE roster with both standing at +200. The Rock is rumored to return to face Roman Reigns for a long time. Despite doing WrestleMania 39, fans and WWE Creative Team aren’t ruling out the idea of seeing the match in the near future which is the reason why Rock was included in the odds.
The likes of Edge, Santos Escobar, Solo Sikoa, Rey Mysterio, and The Brawling Brutes member Butch sit at +10,000 to be the champions in a long shot. Regular roster members like Sami Zayn (+600), Kevin Owens (+500), and Drew McIntyre (+500) are in slightly better positions to become the new champions. This will only happen if WWE takes the title away from the current champion.
Paul Heyman recently sat down with Ariel Helwani for an interview and compared Roman Reigns’ title reign with The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak with the following comments,
“They thought they would see it. They thought they would, and no they didn’t get to see it. This was year after, year after year, and then they finally got to see it.”
“I think that’s the same thing with Roman Reigns’ title defenses now. You hope this is the one. You think this is the one. You’re sure this is the one. You watch the match happening, and you go, ‘You know this is the one’, and then it turns out not to be the one. ‘Oh, man. I can’t wait to see the next chapter.’”
