The Rock is perhaps the biggest Hollywood star of his generation and he’s a subject of all kinds of discussion for all the rightful reasons. Apart from that, his roots belong to professional wrestling and the IWC continuously speculates his return to WWE, every now and then.

For a long time, one of the most common theories was that he would return at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas to take on Roman Reigns. Ringside News previously reported that the match was never in the works in particular, given how busy Dwayne Johnson has been.

The Hollywood star has now confirmed the same during a recent interview. The Great One spoke to Andrew Freund from Dish Nation where he addressed the rumored Wrestlemania match. The Rock didn’t entirely shut down the idea of seeing the match with Reigns in the future but currently, there’s no chance to see this one happening.

The Rock affirms he won’t be in a ‘Mania match

The Rock simply mentioned that the current rumors aren’t true.

“I can tell you, there is no truth to that right now. Possibly down the road, we will see. We stay very close, myself and Roman Reigns, and I’m very happy and very proud with the work he is doing as well as The Usos, my other family members. Those guys will continue to do what they’re doing and we’ll see down the road.”

Apart from the Wrestlemania 38 matchup, The Rock’s return to WWE has also been speculated to happen for Survivor Series 2021. Those chances were also wiped out when news broke that he would be out of the country working on his TV series, Young Rock. It would almost be impossible for him to take a break from the schedule and fly down from Australia to New York City in time for the show.

That being said, the seeds for the upcoming match with Reigns won’t be planted at Survivor Series. Despite the absence, WWE still plans to celebrate The Rock, this month on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his WWE debut. While his WWE future seems uncertain, he’s taking over the movie industry with another big release, Red Notice on Netflix alongside Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds.
