WWE is reportedly in search of a location for Royal Rumble 2023 which will be the first Big-Four Premium Live Event for next year. They are reportedly looking at Texas for the 2023 edition’s location, per the recent updates.

A new report from Fightful Select has noted that The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas is the front-runner for hosting the Royal Rumble 2023 Premium Live Event. WWE hosted the same event at The Alamodome in 2017, and before that in 1997.

Royal Rumble 2023: Possible Location For First Big-Four WWE PLE Of Next Year 1

It should be noted that WWE ran all The Rumble editions since 2017 inside a doom or an outdoor stadium except for the 2018 edition. The Alamodome was the first dome that WWE ran The Rumble at, and the only dome they ran for more than two decades. If they do schedule Royal Rumble 2023 at the same venue then they will use the same venue over three separate decades. More updates regarding the venue should be available in due course.

It was recently reported that WWE plans to host a lot more stadium shows in 2023 and hence it makes sense that Royal Rumble 2023 should be run from a similar big venue to kick things off in a bigger way for Wrestlemania 38 in Hollywood.

WWE announced an attendance of 52,020 for the 2017 Rumble at The Alamodome and they will definitely be looking forward to breaking that record with Royal Rumble 2023. Except for Wrestlemania, no PPV schedule has been officially declared by the company as we wait for confirmation from their side.

Speaking of Royal Rumble 2023, Mat Men’s Andrew Zarian already noted that WWE is looking forward to hosting more stadium shows, next year. This idea is reportedly created by WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan and is his approach to running Premium Live Events.

“The scalability of large stadiums is very beneficial when it comes to having live attendance over 15k. The event doesn’t have to be a sell-out of 50k+ but now you have room to do 20-35k shows more often leading to much higher revenue & higher level of excitement for the event,” the report noted.
