WWE sent the professional wrestling circuit to a frenzy after releasing a number of top superstars from the contract, a couple of days ago. The following 6 wrestlers were let go of the company related to budget cut reasons,
– Braun Strowman
– Aleister Black
– Lana
– Murphy
– Ruby Riott
– Santana Garrett
A lot of chattering can be heard over how WWE failed to utilize these talents. To make things even more complicated, further updates claimed that more such releases were coming soon. According to an earlier report from Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast (who have broken quite a few stories as of late), the company is expected to make more releases in the coming weeks.
Saurav Gurjar Sent Back To India By WWE; No Future Plans
Fans started to get even more worried after a Twitter account, a Twitter account @JoeWhattaDay actually name-dropped a few wrestlers who could soon become ex-WWE employees.
“More Releases To Come:
– Liv Morgan
– Keith Lee
– Angel Garza
– Humberto Carrillo
These are names currently on the list to be released.”
While Liv Morgan is from Smackdown, the other three names are from Raw and all of those names failed to feature on regular TV over the past several months. The situation is more complex with Keith Lee who is absent from television for some unknown reasons since last year’s fall. The good thing is that these upcoming release rumors are baseless.
Braun Strowman: Backstage Update On WWE Releasing The Top Superstar
Rumors of more WWE releases are false
According to the clarifications provided by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, who is actually a reliable source, nothing such will be happening. At least his tweet claim he doesn’t have any such update,
“I’ve not heard this whatsoever as of now.”
Later, Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast tweeted the following supporting the update,
“Same. I can not confirm any of the names on this list. I was just told that it’s expected more releases will be coming.”
In the meantime, The Wrestling Observer is reporting that John Laurinaitis (Head of WWE Talent Relations) sent a text to WWE talents about the 6 wrestlers who have been released. This is said to be a first-time practice as the message text message states the following,
“Due to Budget cuts the following talent were released today. Braun Strowman, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Santana Garrett, Ruby Riott, and Aleister Black. – John Laurinaitis”
