Various news has been available for the past several days regarding the release of Shane McMahon from his WWE contract. He ended up picking up immense backstage heat from the WWE talents and officials and as a result, Vince McMahon decided to let him go in a quiet way. However, this may not be true, after all, given that he is still involved in WWE’s operations.

Earlier this week, Marco Masotti, the owner of South Africa’s Sharks rugby team, revealed via Twitter that he met with Shane McMahon to discuss a partnership with WWE. It does mean that the younger McMahon was representing his father’s company in some capacity.

Masotti tweeted a picture of himself with Shane McMahon and Doug Cifu, the co-owner of NHL franchise Florida Panthers. The caption of the photo stated the following:

“So grateful for a night out with brothers Shane McMahon (son of WWE Vince) and Doug Cifu (co-owner of Florida Panthers). Excited for a partnership between WWE and rugby. ⁦”

Shane McMahon Still Reportedly Involved In WWE Operations 1

Shane-O-Mac was originally scheduled to compete at Elimination Chamber as well as Wrestlemania 38 but then he was released after picking up significant heat for his role as a producer and writer of the Men’s Royal Rumble Match that took place on January 29. He also competed in the match, but his actions were heavily criticized.

WWE talents were angry with Shane McMahon

Talents didn’t like the way how the booking went down and how Shane McMahon wanted to make the match centered around himself. Vince McMahon was upset about the whole experience and ended up releasing his own son from the WWE contract. Things were done in a hush-hush process as he didn’t want to make a situation out of it.

Shane McMahon Still Reportedly Involved In WWE Operations 2

A recent report mentioned how Shane McMahon made a pitch to enter the Rumble at the number-one position until Vince stepped in and scrapped a lot of his plans. Then the let-go happened and he was subsequently pulled from all RAW, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 38 plans. Reports also claimed that we’re not likely to see him back on WWE TV for a long time.
