Sheamus is up for one of the brightest opportunities of his career, tonight as he competes inside the Elimination Chamber. Before going into the match, he spoke with BT Sport and vented out frustrations over the WWE management. He was supposed to receive a traditional singles title shot but now it turned into an all-out melee, he expected the least.
Along with Drew McIntyre, Sheamus will also have to compete against Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, and Kofi Kingston as he wants to win the title for the fifth time in his career. During the interview, he said he felt like it was an injustice done as a singles title opportunity was robbed of him.
“I’ve been robbed of a WWE Championship Match, a single, one-on-one opportunity with Drew McIntyre,” Sheamus began. “To be stuck in a cage with five other guys, including Drew — how do you think that feels to me, man? Me, being a four-time WWE Champion, you’re telling me now that I’m not a draw? I’m not big enough to go in there with Drew? What’s the story there?”

Sheamus had one more reason to be irate over WWE management. As per him, he feels like nobody has been better in the ring than him over the last several months, during the coronavirus pandemic. This should oblige him to be in a title match against Drew McIntyre in the first place. But all of a sudden, the Chamber match announcement ruined that hope.
Mike And Maria Kanellis: Update On Ex-WWE Couple’s Future
“Since the COVID pandemic started and we’ve been going to the WWE Performance Center, there’s been nobody who has outperformed me in the Performance Center and in the ThunderDome era. Week-after-week, I’ve been elevating people, anybody and everybody I’ve been in the ring with. Whether it’s Jeff Hardy, Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, John Morrison, or Miz,” Sheamus continued.
Sheamus mentions himself as the hungriest superstar
“I’ve been making every single person in that place up their game. When everyone else is been kind of like, moseying along, I’ve been the one dragging everybody — I’m the most intense person in there, I’m the hungriest guy in there. That’s a huge insult to me when they say I don’t deserve a one-on-one match with Drew.”
Sheamus interestingly hinted at an interesting WrestleMania 37 main event match during the interview. If he wins the title in tonight’s PPV then the reigning champion would be dethroned. But being a hungry champion, the Irishman won’t be having a problem giving a rematch to McIntyre at the Grandest Stage of Them All. At WrestleMania 37, McIntyre can have his rematch where two UK natives could be put in a highly physical brawl.
WWE Elimination Chamber streams on the WWE Network tomorrow at 7 pm ET. (Kickoff at 6 pm ET) Only time will tell whether we’ll get a new champion on the show or not. Before the builds around this PPV officially began, Sheamus turned on McIntyre the night after Royal Rumble.
He delivered a Brogue Kick on the reigning WWE Champion to end their long friendship just because he wanted to go after the WWE Title. These are desperate times for the Celtic Warrior who is hell-bent on getting back the most prestigious title in sports entertainment.
