The landscape of the WWE management saw massive changes over the timespan of a year and it doesn’t have Stephanie McMahon’s name in it. With the rumors starting of the company’s sale to Saudi Arabia, she made her exit from the company earlier this year. This happened after Vince McMahon bulldozed his way to the board in January.

Utilizing his power, Vince started acting as the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors which led to Stephanie McMahon’s resignation as the co-CEO of the company. Some of the fans started to believe that this exit may have something to do with the potential sale of the WWE to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the fact that his father forced his way back to the company.

This departure was reported to be lasting forever but as you can “never say never” in the WWE, Stephanie McMahon could return if the backstage situation allows her in a fitting role. Rumors about the return are even fueled up after The Billion Dollar Princess was spotted backstage for WrestleMania 39, last night, per a report from PWInsider via Wrestling Headlines. This marked her first attended in a WWE show since resigning, earlier this year.

Stephanie McMahon’s WWE exit was tied to Vince McMahon

WWE CEO Nick Khan previously made it clear that they would love to have Stephanie McMahon back on the board but she was not ready just yet to maintain herself in the job. Vince McMahon was also in attendance at Wrestlemania 39 with a brand new look and an office set up at the backstage area. Time will tell whether his presence ultimately prohibits his daughter from returning.

It should be noted that Vince McMahon used his powerful position as the majority shareholder of WWE stock to muscle his way back into the Chairman position of WWE’s Board of Directors. Just a couple of days later, Stephanie McMahon resigned after his father ushered in a new era of selling the company and helping with the media rights talks for the next few years.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported at that point that there was a thought that Stephanie McMahon’s WWE exit could be tied to the possibility of Saudi Arabia possibly taking over his father’s company,

“Some have tried to tie in Stephanie’s resignation to the fact that women are considered second-class in Saudi Arabia.”
