In recent times, WWE has been dealing with a lot of controversies and one of them is Stephanie McMahon’s sudden leave of absence. Being a cornerstone figure of the WWE global brand, she was an integral part of the system for the past several years. In her absence, the company lost a face who would have consistently represented the professional wrestling company.
The ongoing AEW/MJF story alongside the walkouts by Sasha Banks and Naomi/WWE has been accompanied by Stephanie McMahon’s sudden departure from her position. A lot of theories were dictated by different sources including one where McMahon’s father, WWE Owner, and Chairman Vince McMahon was stated to be the reason behind her leave of absence. Now, more information has come out on the story.
WWE NXT 2.0 Women’s Breakout Tournament Winner Revealed
Stephanie McMahon taking a leave of absence from her position as WWE Chief Branding Officer happened on her own terms, states a new report from “Fightful Select.” This has nothing to do with the WWE Chairman or any other top executives.
Prior to the news being made public, WWE President Nick Khan was already telling people around him that Stephanie McMahon had already made the decision on her own and that she was not being pushed out of the company. There were some employees that referenced the recent performance issues but those weren’t related to this hiatus.
Stephanie McMahon was never pushed out of the WWE
Sources from both the Nick Khan and Stephanie McMahon camps have confirmed that the decision was made by the latter one. On a thread regarding the situation over the F4WOnline message board, Dave Meltzer commented on McMahon’s leave of absence and noted how the absence has to do something with her family health issues.
Plus, it was reiterated that Stephanie McMahon herself took the decision,
“Her leaving was 100% her choice,” Meltzer said. “She had been talking about it to close friends from when Paul (Triple H) had his heart issues. That said, key people in the company once she was gone did want to bury her on the way out.
That shocked a lot of people including me and those close to her. When I noted to someone very high in the food chain about the burial starting, they told me that if they did that publicly it would be career suicide, only to find out they had already started and the burial was going to come from the top.”
As of now the belief is that Stephanie McMahon would eventually come back to the WWE in a new role but that won’t be happening, any time soon. It’s likely that her in-ring stint has already come to an end with her family duties but then you can never say never.
