It was in the summer of 2022 that Stephanie McMahon stepped in and took over her father Vince McMahon’s duties as the CEO when the latter had to step down in the wake of a hush money scandal investigation against him. A few months later, Vince is back in the powerhouse position and it’s his daughter who had to step away from her duties.

As first reported by The Puck’s Mattew Belloni, Stephanie McMahon’s resigned as co-CEO of WWE, leaving Nick Khan as the only CEO of the company while Vince McMahon was sworn in as the Chairman of the Board. Triple H retained his position as the Chief Content Officer of the WWE but being someone who loved his power, Vince is expected to take things back from him.

A report filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 11 threw some light on the timeline of how the powers changed hands in WWE from a corporate perspective. It stated that Vince McMahon was elected as the new Executive Chairman on January 9 while Stephanie McMahon was still a member of the board.

But soon after this happened, The Boss Lady “ceased to be Chairwoman of the Board” and this led to Nick Khan “[assuming] the role of sole Chief Executive Officer of the company.”

The SEC report also noted that Michelle McKenna, Steve Koonin, and Steve Damon are in the current Audit Committee, the Governance and Nominating Committee, and the Compensation and Human Capital Committee. The Audit Committee and the Governance and Nominating Committee were elected on the same day that McMahon was reinstated.

It’s worth noting that Stephanie McMahon was named the Co-CEO of WWE and Co-Chair of the Board (alongside Khan) in July 2022 on an emergency basis after Vince announced his retirement following allegations against him of sexual misconduct and harassment. But as then rumors suggested he could least resist coming back in power. This time around, he has the intention of selling the WWE, as well.

The resignation of Stephanie McMahon Stephanie’s clearly left everybody in the WWE in a state of confusion. According to Fightful Select, several WWE talents expressed their “uncertainty” about what “actually means” for the departure especially since this seems to be a permanent exit. She alongside Khan and Triple H was generally “well-liked” and talents may not like the idea of Vince taking things over.
