Summerslam 2022 turned out to be a night of surprising returns with Hall of Famers Edge and Kane showing up, out of nowhere. Apart from them, three women superstars, one from the main roster and the other two from NXT roster made their presence felt on WWE TV and thereby hinted that a huge change could be on its way on Monday Night Raw in due course.
In the opening contest of Summerslam 2022, Bianca Belair defeated Becky Lynch to retain her Raw Women’s Championship. In a back-and-forth battle, Becky was trying to hit the Manhandle Slam from the 2nd rope, but Belair countered the move with a Spanish Fly. She followed it up with the KOD finisher to pick up the pin to win.
After the match, Becky showed respect to Bianca and they hugged in the ring. Apparently, Summerslam 2022 marked a babyface turn for Becky. Just after they were done hugging, former Women’s Champion Bayley made her return to a big reaction from the audience. She wasn’t alone as former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Dakota Kai and former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai joined her as allies.

The trio wanted to attack Belair in the ring when she was alone but Becky Lynch ran back to the ring to provide backup to the champion. The two sides exchanged verbal comments before leaving and things never went physical between them. We now can’t help but imagine what could be in store for these superstars following Summerslam 2022.

Bayley has been teasing a WWE return around Summerslam 2022
Leading up to Summerslam 2022, Fightful Select indicated that Bayley was preparing to return to in-ring competition. The longest-reigning WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion has been teasing her return for months on social media starting with the Wrestlemania 38 season.
Bayley had been out of action for nearly a year due to a torn ACL that she picked up while training at the WWE Performance Center, last July. Her final televised match took place in June that year where she teamed up with Seth Rollins to defeat Bianca Belair and Cesaro.
As for Shirai, she’s not been in the WWE ring since WWE WrestleMania 38 weekend when she competed in a fatal four-way match against Mandy Rose, Cora Jade, and Kay Lee Ray at NXT Stand And Deliver. Dakota Kai was released from her WWE contract back in April but now she’s back to be part of the Raw Women’s division, following Summerslam 2022.
