For weeks now, the third match between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar is reportedly in the works for Summerslam 2023. Now, a challenge for the match has officially been laid down from the latter one and it will be answered on next week’s Raw.
During the July 10 episode of Raw, Cody Rhodes appeared in a promo session to talk about his feud with Brock Lesnar that started for no reason. With both the man scoring a win over each other in the past, Cody looked forward to securing the rubber match against The Beast Incarnate at SummerSlam 2023 by laying down the challenge for the tiebreaker match.

Brock Lesnar returns to Raw, next week
Cody made a valiant statement as he wanted to end the ongoing program with Lesnar, once and for all, “What I dream is a rubber match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. I’m gonna finish the chapter that you started for no damn reason!”
No response from Lesnar has been received but he’s now been confirmed to appear on next week’s episode of Raw to answer the challenge from Cody and possibly accept it to confirm the marquee match at Summerslam 2023.
Summerslam 2023: Cody vs. Lesnar III to be a gimmick match
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter previously gave updates on this match by reporting that the rubber match between Cody and Lesnar will take place at Summerslam 2023 in a marquee match capacity and it will have a stipulation that we have not seen in a while. It was also noted that this match could be a Bullrope Match,
“Lesnar vs. Rhodes III will be one of the SummerSlam main events. There has been a lot of talk about adding a stipulation and one of the ideas is a Bullrope Match. That is not official, and there are multiple other ideas for that match on the table, and no final decision has been made.”
A Bullrope Match was last conducted on WWE programming at The Great American Bash 2007 premium live event, where Randy Orton defeated Cody’s father The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes. So, it’s pretty obvious why Cody might want to bring the stipulation back at Summerslam 2023. It’s like a Strap Match where a wrestler must touch all the turnbuckles in a row while being tied to his opponent with a bull rope.
