WWE has come up with the details around Summerslam 2023, the second confirmed premium live event following Wrestlemania 39 in April. Going by the confirmations of the WWE, the biggest party of the summer will go down a month after the July event, Money in the Bank from London, England.

Summerslam 2023 will be returning to Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, August 5, at Ford Field. This is the same site as WrestleMania 23 and hence this is the first WWE event at the venue since 2007.

Main-evented by John Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, that Wrestlemania edition is best known for the infamous Battle of the Billionaires (Vince McMahon and Donald Trump) which is also touted to be one of the biggest box office successes in the history of the WWE.

Michigan has been home to some other major WWE events in the past as, 30 years ago, SummerSlam was held at The Place of Auburn Hills, and the legendary WrestleMania III occurred at the Pontiac Silverdome.

Summerslam 2023 will end a three-decade-long wait for Michigan fans

Summerslam 2023 will also be the first WWE PLE in the city of Detroit, Michigan. Previously, the 1993 edition went down in the Detroit area, that’s Auburn Hills, Michigan at the Pontiac Silverdome.

SummerSlam ’93 was headlined by Yokozuna defending his WWF Championship against Lex Luger. Luger won the match but via count-out but the champion retained since a title doesn’t change hands via count-out. Additionally, Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler’s and The Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzalez also served as marquee matches on that night.

Summerslam continues the trend of WWE Stadium Shows

Coming back to Summerslam 2023, it marks the third time in recent times that the summer spectacle will emanate from a football stadium. The 2021 edition took place at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada while the 2022 edition took place at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Landing WWE SummerSlam at Ford Field is a signature win for Detroit and continues the momentum of the Detroit Sports Commission in attracting major sporting events to the region,” said Detroit Sports Commission Executive Director Dave Beachnau in a press release.

Official passes for Summerslam 2023 will be available in association with the exclusive partner On Location which will allow the fans to purchase ticket packages before they would go on sale for the public. To pre-register one can visit the below link:
