A couple of years ago, Taynara Conti was touted to be one of the biggest discoveries made by WWE officials. During the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament, the young talent from Brazil was signed to make a splash on the NXT roster. She didn’t have the experience in professional wrestling, at all but the learning process was good for her.

Later, WWE started to sit Taynara Conti out of TV, on a regular basis despite her abilities to garner attention with her in-ring skills and social media profiles. Eventually, during the COVID-19 pandemic-related budget cut releases, the company decided to release her from the contract as she ended up signing a new contract with All Elite Wrestling.

During an appearance on the Oral Sessions Podcast hosted by the ex WWE superstars The IIconics (who filled in for the original host Renee Young), she revealed details on the early part of her career.

“I left home when I was fifteen to travel and train. Everything was going crazy in my life, I was never really home since I was fifteen. Then in 2016 I got the opportunity, because my ranking was going up in judo because of my matches, I got the opportunity to try out for the Olympic games,” Taynara Conti stated.

“That was my biggest dream, my goal in my career. Unfortunately I lost and then, you know, you think it’s ‘oh my career is over.’ I was super young but in that moment it just felt like. That was when pro wrestling became a thing in my life.”

As noted above, due to wrestling not being prominent in Brazil, Taynara Conti did not grow up a wrestling fan. She was also doubtful about transforming into a WWE superstar during the tryout. But she later decided to do it after talking with fellow Brazilian Adrian Joaude, better known as Arturo Ruas.
