Rey Mysterio relinquished the United States Championship on last week’s episode of WWE Raw leaving a void in the mid-card title picture. Samoa Joe had the honor to have his title back since he never lost his title in a fair and square way. Thereafter, WWE announced a Miz TV segment hinting that the A-lister might be next to challenge him over the title. But by the end of the night, we have received three potential contenders.

Apart from The Miz, Ricochet, Cesaro, Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley also joined the ring expressing their pledge for a United States title shot. This set up a six-man tag team match on WWE Raw where Miz, Strowman, and Ricochet teamed up against the Joe, Lashley, and Cesaro. The babyfaces stood tall by the end as The Miz executed Skull Crushing Finale which Ricochet followed up with a 630-splash. With this win, these three names may set up a fatal-4-way United States title match at Stomping Grounds.
The United States Championship picture has been a matter of discussion on WWE Raw for the past couple of weeks. It was at Money in the Bank that Rey Mysterio defeated Samoa Joe to win the title via pinfall. But the former champion’s shoulder was clearly up while the count that allowed him to demand back his title. Mysterio had to vacate the title anyway due to a shoulder injury.
So we expected a new contender may emerge on WWE Raw for the US title,
“Less than gracious in receiving the title he claims he never truly lost at WWE Money in the Bank (his shoulder was off the mat when the official counted three), The Samoan Submission Machine lashed out, attacking Mysterio and locking The Master of the 619 in the dreaded Coquina Clutch. Clearly, Joe is one of the most dangerous Superstars on the Raw roster, meaning that anyone eyeing his new prize has a mountainous obstacle ahead of them. Will a challenger emerge on Raw?”
After WWE confirmed a Miz TV segment on the show, we predicted that The Miz may be next-in-line for the championship. He was over with the previous feud with Shane McMahon and it’s time for him to get back to the mid-card title picture to deliver a fresh feud. With the three babyfaces picking up the win, anyone from these three may get the title shot on next week’s episode of WWE Raw.
